Pregnancy Pain In Groin

Pregnancy and groin pain are almost synonymous. A lot of expectant women report of experiencing  pregnancy pain in the groin region and start panicking because of it. Remember pregnancy pain in groin is very common and it can occur at any time during the whole pregnancy. Usually groin pain during the third trimester becomes really troublesome.

Some of the common causes that lead to pregnancy pain in the groin region are:

Weight Issues: The female body gains a lot of weight as the pregnancy progresses due to the developing child. The increase in weight puts a lot of stress  on the hips and pelvis  so that they expand to make room for the baby. This can lead you to experience pregnancy pain in groin region.

Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction:  SPD or Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction generally occurs when the pelvis gets misaligned . This may happen due to excessive movement of the pubic symphysis and can cause pregnancy pain in groin area.

Exercise:  Exercising regularly will help your body adapt to the various physical changes easily. It will strengthen  your body and help you become accustomed to the increased weight and reduce pregnancy pain in groin . But don’t overdo it.

Nutrients: Make sure that your diet is nutrient rich. It should contain adequate amounts of calcium, magnesium , vitamins and proteins so that you and your child receive the right nutrients.

Sleeping:  When sleeping place a pillow under your belly and another one between your knees. This will ease pregnancy pains in groin, hip and back. Use a maternity pillow for greater comfort. Moreover when you sleep lie on your side keeping the knees and hips bent.

Following these  tips will reduce pregnancy groin pains considerably but in case you experience mild pain then taking a warm bath will give you some relief. But remember in case the pain is intense or there is bleeding then call your doctor.
